Top seed Abhyudya Agrawal of Ahmedabad marched into the quarter-finals of Gujarat State Major Ranking Badminton Tournament in Vadodara on Friday.
In the pre-quarters of boys under-17 singles, Abhyudya breezed past Valsad’s Tanwar Dhruvpratap 21-8 21-5.
In other matches, second seed Dhrumil Patel of Mehsana overcome a stiff first game resistance to beat Ahmedabad’s Aakash Patel 22-20, 21-3.
But Ahmedabad had more reasons to cheer as third seed Ritten Venarse eased past Kartik Dua of s Vadodara 21-14, 21-6 while fourth seed Ansh Chokshi came from a game down to beat Surat’s Siddharth Singh 10-21, 21-15, 21-18.
In the girls’ section, top seed Dipti Kuity of Kutch had a comfortable 21-6, t 21-8 win over Vadodara’s Lele Kosha while third seed Nupur Vasavada of Vadodara had a comfortable 21-7, 21-5 win over Raghvi Baloni of Surat.
Meanwhile, Devarshi Sanghvi and Salvi Shah give Ahmedabad a lot to cheer about.
Second seed Salvi brushed aside Bharuch’s Zeel Rohit 21-9, 21-7 while fourth seed Devarshi faced little hassle in beating Surat’s Vasava Ayushi 21-16, 21-15.
