Anoushka Parikh, teaming up with Sahil Sipani, suffered a heartbreak as they settled for being the second best in mixed doubles category at Russian Junior International White Nights in Gatchina.
Up against Russian pair of Rodion Alimov and Alina Davletova, in the final, Anoushka and Sahil gave their top seed opponents a tough fight before bowing out 16-21, 14-21 to settle for the silver.
In earlier rounds, Anoushka and Sahil came out all guns blazing to topple fourth seeded Russian duo of Vladimir Shipilenko and Valeriia Makkoveeva 21-19, 21-16 in pre-quarters.
In the quarters, the Indians fought tooth and nail before coming from behind to beat Russian pair of Nikita Fedotovskikh and Lela Minadze 17-21, 21-13, 21-16. But Anoushka and Sahil were at their best in the semi-final as they rolled past second seeds Egor Okolov and Sabina Alieva of Russia 2111, 21-13.
